- Exclusive - have the district register every student, teacher, and parent in school beforehand, similar to infinite campus and naviance
- Semi-Exclusive - Enable students, teachers, and parents register whenever they like, with an approval by a faculty member
- Partly Open - Let anyone register; after they are “friended” by a member of the school network, they can join it
- Open – Public virtue; let anyone join who solemnly swears they are part of the network

- Enforcing a stringent code of conduct and having students sign a fair use contract
- Restricting access to certain facebook-like features
